FLOOD INSURANCE
If your insurance company is requiring a flood elevation certificate in order to provide a flood
insurance quote, please call me before you go to this expense. You may be able to obtain
grandfathered rates, and the elevation certificate will not be needed.
Revised flood maps from FEMA have affected many homeowners in the City of Centerton. This new
FIRM (Flood Insurance Rate Map) map number 05007C0235J, dated September 28, 2007, put much
of the area south of Hwy 102, between Fish Hatchery Road and Centerpoint Drive into a flood hazard
area.
Grandfathered rates are those rates that would be used if you were not in a flood hazard area, but were
obtaining flood insurance anyway. The rates for not using grandfathered rates are current rates with
adjustments made for the FFE (finished floor elevation) above the BFE (base flood elevation). To
order to receive much of a savings on the rate, the FFE must be 2 feet or more above the BFE.
Please call me if you have any questions. Also, I will be happy to work with your insurance agents to
provide them with the letter and maps needed to obtain the grandfathered rates.
